She is Mona daughter of Shaykh son of Abu Bakr son of Saadiq son of ‘Alawi son of Ahmad son of Muhammad son of ‘Alawi son of Muhammad son of Ahmad son of Muhammad son of Ahmad son of Muhammad son of Ahmad Alkaff son of Muhammad Kuraykarah son of Ahmad son of Abu Bakr al-Jifri son of Muhammad son of Ali son of Muhammad son of the martyr Ahmad son of al-Faqih al-Muqaddam, the greatest teacher, Muhammad son of ‘Ali son of Muhammad Saahib al-Mirbaat son of Ali Khaali’ Qasam son of ‘Alawi son of Muhammad son of ‘Alawi son of Abdullah son of the one who migrated to Allah Ahmad son of Isa son of Muhammad al-Naqib son of Ali al-‘Uridiy son of Ja’far as-Saadiq son of Muhammad al-Baaqir son of ‘Ali Zayn al-‘Aabideen son of Husayn as-Sibt son of ‘Ali son of Abu Taalib (May Allah ennoble his face) the husband of the leader of all women, Fatima al-Zahra’ daughter of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his companions and grant them peace).
Born in Makkah Al-Mukarramah during the Holy Month of Ramadan to two noble parents from the progeny of the Noble Prophet (sallaAllahu alayhi wa sallam), Sayyida Om Rayyan (Mona) Alkaff has been raised to love knowledge, the scholars and the righteous. The first person to nurture her soul and intellect, to show a concern for her, and with whom she studied many books of the pious predecessors was her father, the late Shaykh ibn Abu Bakr ibn Saadiq Alkaff who was taught the religious and spiritual sciences with a continuous chain back to the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) by the scholars of Tarim. After the Gnostic, the erudite scholar and guide al-Habib Abdul al-Qadir ibn Ahmad as-Saqqaf came to the Hijaaz (Saudi Arabia), her father always kept his company, so she grew up under his guardianship, studying and obtaining authorization in da’wah - calling to Allah.
Studying under the guidance of the erudite scholar and guide al-Habib ‘Umar ibn Salim ibn Hafiz, Sayyida Om Rayyan received authorization to read the books of the Pious Predecessors and to call to Allah. Her teachers include al-Habib Husayn ibn Abdul Qadir as-Saqqaf whose classes and circles she attended since he came to the United Arab Emirates in 1998. The books which she has studied with him are, Bidaayat ul-Hidaayah: The Beginning of Guidance, Safinat un-Najah: The Ship of Salvation, al-Aqaa’idu from Ihya Uloom ud-Deen: The Tenants of Faith from The Revival of The Religious Sciences, Adaab us-Sulook ul-Mureed: The Manners of Wayfaring for The One Who Desires Allah, al-Wasiyya: The Counsel, as-Seerat un-Nabawiy: The Prophetic Biography, al-Hikam: The Wisdoms of Imam al-Haddad, Sifatu Salat il-Muqarabeen: The Description of the Prayer of Those Drawn Nigh, al-Fusul ul-Ilmiyyah: The Erudite Chapters, and Iydahu Asraar Uloom il-Muqarabeen: An Exposition of the Secrets of The Sciences of Those Drawn Nigh. She is currently studying Sahih Muslim and al-Tadhkirat ul-Hadramiyya: The Reminders from Hadramawt.
Sayyida Om Rayyan has worked in the field of teaching for many years in the Hijaaz (Saudi Arabia). Upon moving to Abu Dhabi, Ustadha Om Rayyan served as founder and director of Al-Bashaa’ir private school in Abu Dhabi from 1993 to 2000. She also served as the head of the Mothers’ Council at Shaykh Zayed Academy for girls from 2000 to 2004. Ustadha Om Rayyan has undertaken da’wah trips to many Arab States and to Asia and Africa for the propagation of Islam. Additionally, she has delivered many lectures about teaching, learning and wayfaring in schools, universities and women’s leagues in the United Arab Emirates. She currently serves as an advisor to the department of Endowments in Abu Dhabi, supervises a number of courses for children and young girls, and continues to do her utmost to serve in the field of da’wah while asking for sincerity from Allah, divine success and acceptance for her and for all of the Muslims.
